School-Based Community Organizing
Poverty poses barriers to learning beyond school walls (e.g. unsafe streets) that schools must also address to serve students effectively. Because schools are hubs for communities, they have the power to assemble the residents of historically underserved communities to demand positive social change. This session will explore successful methods of authentically engaging families to address the barriers to learning to create sustainable growth in educational outcomes.
