In 2003, Steve Colmus opened KIPP TRUTH Academy in Dallas, TX with a 5th grade founding class (the Class of 2011). Over four years, the school grew to 5th through 8th grade and was consistently recognized for students’ academic achievement. The first class of KIPPsters includes a current teacher at KIPP TRUTH, a member of the KIPP Texas development team, and a doctoral student, among others. Steve now works as an assistant principal at an elementary school in Highline and is most proud of his twin 9 year old daughters.
